In Meckenbeuern/Württemburg
He joined the Richswehr in 1921, then on Aug.26.39 was mobilized to Poland with the wi 1st Gebirgsdivision, and 97th Light division of the western field group. Later the 97th Jäger division. It is here that he served courageously as an officer on the eastern front and was promoted to over all commander of the 3rd battalion of Jager Regiment 204. On May 15, 1943 he was honored with the award of the knights cross. In 1944 because of his dynamic combat experience he became the overall commander of grenadier regiment 195, of the 78th sturm division, he receieved heavy wounds on the 22 of March 1945 near Leobschütz-Jägerndorf in Silesia. To his regiment, he was constantly an experienced and exemplary commander and at the same time to each of his soldiers the best Kamerad. He was imprisoned in an American POW camp from 5.10 1945, to 8 23, 1948. He died on October 7, 1975 in Rippolingen/baden-Württemburg.
